About Our Nurse Practitioner

Hi, I’m Jen Owen,

An Integrative Medicine Nurse Practitioner,
and Founder of The Flourish Center.

I’m known as a maverick healer, wellness innovator, and fierce advocate for my patients. I’m dedicated to inspiring and empowering my patients to feel, look, move, work, and create a fulfilling life, as their best selves.

I started using herbal remedies back in the early 1990s to cure my own chronic sinus issues, which conventional medicine was not effective in healing.

Through my studies of herbs, I also learned about how the foods we eat impact the way we feel. I changed my diet and my lifestyle, and I haven’t struggled with sinus infections since.

Through my undergraduate studies in Anthropology, I discovered the interplay between culture and behavior and how our upbringing and cultural experiences affect our health and life behaviors.

In 2007, I became a Registered Nurse. I spent the early part of my nursing career caring for some of the sickest people in my local hospital system, and then spent four years working in a free clinic, caring for individuals living below the poverty level.

Those experiences provided a real understanding about the gaps and shortcomings of the conventional medicine system in helping people heal — not just treat symptoms.

Jen Owen, NP

I knew I wanted to help in a bigger way, so continued on with my training and education.

I received my Masters degree in Nursing and became nationally board-certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner in 2012

“My mission has always been to make a positive impact
in the world by compassionately caring for the unique needs
of my patients through a holistic and integrative medicine approach, and to empower and support them to live their very best lives.”

I hold a vision for
a place where patients are activated, inspired and empowered.

During and after my masters program, I received extensive mentoring, education, and work experience in the field of functional medicine.

In the Summer of 2013, I started my own Nurse Practitioner-owned and operated Integrative Medicine clinic in Bloomington, Indiana, where I grew my practice and became known as the natural medicine expert in the area.

During this time, I also received additional training in healing the female pelvic floor using a technique called Holistic Pelvic Care™.

In the fall of 2017, I sold my Indiana practice as I relocated to Portland, Oregon. After a relocation sabbatical, I opened Bloom Pelvic Therapies to focus on female healthcare, and especially issues which arise from the pelvic bowl.

Providing this type of healing services gave me a unique perspective of the depth of power often laying dormant within females in this part of our bodies.

When one becomes aware of the pelvic bowl as a power center and source, and how to tap into this power, remarkable and accelerated physical, emotional and spiritual healing occurs.

After doing only female healthcare for a couple of years, I realized that my real passion is in treating the whole person. We are not simply the sum of our parts. I now combine all of my areas of expertise into my empowering integrative healthcare approach for all genders.

Working together with other holistic practitioners as The Flourish Center is my dream come true. It’s designed to be a central place where patients are activated, inspired, and empowered, and where healthcare means support, listening, hope, and true help.

I’m honored to be part of a team approach to helping our clients achieve all of their life, health, and wellness goals and dreams, and where they feel like family….

When I’m not working with patients in the clinic, I’m coaching other nurse practitioners or working with the women in my online group program, The Flourish Way™ Experience. I love serving in many different capacities and making an impact in the world to encourage and inspire health and healing for all.
